I know, you can slap me. It’s been two whole weeks since I last blogged, but let me tell you, what a busy two weeks it has been! Between sending my mom on a trip home to see her mom and family, working with my business partners to help them achieve their goals (it’s all about teamwork with us!), adjusting to new living arrangements, taking care of my mom’s home and her fishies (two out of three are still living, so that isn’t too bad, right?), spending some time with TJ’s family and Rachel’s family and my brother (any time to sit and chat with him is always cherished by me – even if it’s 4:00am) and dealing with Susie’s cancer (for those who are new readers, Rachel’s mom is like my second mom) it’s safe to say that I’m pooped! But the good kind, obviously.
I’ve also taken some time away from the blog to gather my thoughts on where my relationship is with Christ, reflect on where I’m at in life, where I want it to be and get in major organization mode. I admit that I’ve been so disorganized with every aspect of my life (it’s really driving me nuts) and I’m done with feeling like I have such a chaotic life when I know that if all I do is just organize it, I’d mentally feel better and tap my inner beast.
Since I also just received Lara’s Powersheets as a gift from a good friend, I plan on sitting down to get super uncomfortable and capture my goals on paper as well as put together my vision board. I also plan on buying this amazing planner to plan out my days down to the detail after sticking what I need to do on on my iCalendar app. They say that writing it down also helps with memory, so paper and electronic planners is the way to go for me!
When 2014 started, I took on Jon Acuff’s Empty Shelf Challenge and have read close to half a dozen of books (I read the same amount last year alone) and plan to double or triple my reading before the year is over. Currently, I’m halfway through with Robert Kiyosaki’s Business of the 21st Century after having finished Darren Hardy’s The Compound Effect a few weeks ago. My next books are Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins (going to see him live this August in Salt Lake City so I have to read it again!) and Is Your Lifestyle Killing You? by Dr. Karen Wolfe before August.
I know what you’re thinking. “Wow, you’re so busy!” I’m busy for a reason. Part of it is because I want to distract myself from the fact that my second mom may not have much time left here with us. The other part is using my pain and channeling my energy into work that matters like helping others with their health. It’s my way to honor my daddy and my second mom. The best way I know how to deal with pain is to lean hard on Jesus Christ and surround myself with amazing people who despite are going through tough times themselves, are still chugging along by putting their heart and soul into something that means something to them.
Tell me, what books are you reading this summer and how do you deal with pain?
