I cannot believe 2016 is less than a day away! As I say goodbye to 2015, I wanted to share highlights of my year to remember this awesome time in my life. Oh and if you’re like me, I always count the good that happens versus the bad when reflecting upon the last 365 days instead of wishing for the year to be over. If you’re new here, have a seat and let me take you on this year’s tour!
I kicked off the year with a New Year New You Event with crossline business partners, a business trip to Chicago, met my new friend, Kelly, and began our fellowship tradition: Sushi Saturday! I also received the sweetest gift from my good friend, Megan: a devotional book. What an awesome way to start the new year!
I had the pleasure to meet and get to know one of our company’s Co-Presidents, Kevin Guest this year. I loved how open and transparent he was with us, answered every question we had and am excited to see the direction my company is going for 2016 and years to come! Oh, we met the Power Rangers during one of our Sushi Saturdays (they were hungry after their Comic Con event), haha!
A road trip to San Antonio to get more business training happened along with meeting a ton of people and getting WAY outside of my comfort zone! Included in March was a meeting with my wealth manager to get my finances in order, coming across this awesome video and running in the FireFly 5K Run thanks to my joint supplement that helps with my knees.
I had a BLAST in Vegas, this time we were not staying directly on the strip, but in the outskirts of Vegas at the beautiful Red Rock Hotel celebrating my friends who hit milestones in their business while soaking up knowledge during our workshops!
Ahhh, wedding season! Watching my close friend, Austin, get married to the love of his life (she’s amazing!) and meeting Jon Acuff were THE highlights of that month for me!
Watching my cousin, Kori, graduate with honors and at the top of her high school class made me feel so old, but I’m so proud of her and her accomplishments! She just finished her first semester of college and still tutors on the side!
To combat my feeling old, I took my first ever boxing class with my closest friends and attended my second wedding of the year to watch two of my friends from my early college years get married and made a new friend with the awesome, Christine (bride’s sister)!
Hitting a major business goal/milestone on the last day of the fiscal year along with watching my friend, Hoang-Kim light up the Miss USA stage was a great end to my Summer! Kyle, Nate and I got to walk the stage the following month as new Silver Directors and that was worth all of our hard work!
Honestly, August is my second favorite month of the year. This is when I’m reunited with my friends and business partners in Salt Lake City for our 4-day annual event.
I also got a chance for a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities and see first-hand where and how my vitamins were made. That awesome experience solidified my choice to always choose USANA for my and my family’s health because no other company would dare be that transparent to let their consumers see what’s going in their products or with their brand!
I was also able to meet our other Co-President, Dave, at our team’s party at the last minute before he left and had the blessing to hear Amy Purdy speak on how our life is a story where we can write our own ending.
A handful of us were also a part of the “party zone” during one of the general sessions where we got to see Denis Waitley and Dr. Oz speak, up close and personal! There’s nothing like this awesome time of the year (besides Christmas of course) and being amazing souls like these guys right here!
This month was a pretty quiet one for me (well, for my standards, lol) as I was prepping to travel to Vegas. I got back into tennis for the first time after two years and began my closet remodel project. Fun fact: this health post was the most shared on my Facebook page, ha!
I went back to Las Vegas for the third time in a year to learn from the best of the best in my industry and hearing guest-speaker Tony Robbins speak live for the second time in a year’s timeframe was such a treat! The weather was still hot (my Snapchat is huongctvo) and I also happened to ring in my 30th birthday at the end of the month too!
Seeing Jon Acuff again was so much fun! The coolest part was that he remembered my name and how I was at his first initial Dallas event. I loved seeing him again and had some fun supporting one of my favorite authors! My business partner, Joe, also flew in from Chicago that same night to help with our health event we had the next day where I met professional athletes, Mookie and Stephanie. As a thank you, we took him to his first boxing class and to see the Dallas Cowboys stadium, which was my first time as well!
No pictures for this month because I wanted to be and live in the moment, so I hardly captured any moments during these last 30 days to share with you. I did end this year with the decision to move back to my favorite area in North Texas. Documents have been signed and the last of the paperwork was turned in today. Whew, what a great way to end 2015!
So much as happened in the last 365 days. My relationship with God is slowly on the mend again. I’m thankful that He’s been speaking to me in so many ways: through messages, His word, people and speaking to my heart directly. He is SO good and loves me (and you) so much. I yearn to have that strong relationship with him again and to make it stronger than ever this year.
I’ve also been happy with my progress on health this year too. Along with mixing it up with 5K races, Nate’s workouts, playing tennis again along with some Wii cardio and my BBG program with Kayla, I’ve improved a ton. I’ve also done a ton of experiments on myself. For example, I’ve learned that cheese doesn’t want to be friends with my body anymore. I guess that’s what happens when you meddle in the relationship, ha! I also focused more on how I physically felt and the fact that I’m moving in some sort of way everyday rather than checking numbers on a scale. That, my friends, is progress because it’s better than having a relationship with your remote and couch, right?! I’ll be doing the same this year by continuing to mix up my workouts, but will be focusing on scheduling them out instead of just deciding what to do the day of so I can be more consistent.
In regards to the personal side of my life, I’ve been terrible at writing down things this year. With the exception of my Five Minute Journal (that thing really does get you in a habit), I haven’t been good at writing anything down or using my agenda. I will say that I kept on track with Jon’s Do Summer. That thing was awesome because I put it in front of me everyday! For me, it’s a out of site, out of mind thing so if I can see it, I’ll do it. Anyone like this?
So as I’m packing for my move, I’m doing a deeper Marie Kondo cleaning to make sure I put out everything in sight for me to get better, including my new camera for me to take outfit pictures in which I totally slacked on this year!
From a business standpoint, I did so much. From getting out of my comfort zone to ridding the feeling of “being salesy” to getting out of my own way to serve others, I hit a major goal I’ve had for over two years and got to walk the stage to celebrate my milestone with those closest to me. I’ve also traveled a ton this year which you saw in the pictures above and can’t wait to hit up Chicago again next week and keep feeding my wanderlust with Atlanta penciled in for March, Las Vegas in the works for April, Salt Lake City in August and if all goes well, Costa Rica in October! I’ve also had a good talking to from one of my greatest supports in business (and life) so I can’t wait to continue taking action to see what 2016 brings in terms of business success for me!
There you have it. Despite a hard year on a few personal levels, what an incredibly fun-filled one at that!
Do you have any plans for tonight? I’m just going to stay in with my friends and play video and board games and just enjoy their company and be in the moment with my phone away from me.
Lastly, in my previous post, I mentioned that I was going to find some links where you can donate to the families/victims affected by the recent tornadoes we had in the area and here’s what I found. Please consider donating and/or sharing with others:
First Rowlett United Methodist Church
GoFundMe for the Porras Family
Garland, Texas Tornado 2015 Relief
These families need your support as they ring in the new year having to clean up the mess (literally) from 2015 and/or having to go on without their loved ones. I know they’d appreciate you taking the time to share these links and/or give anything you can to take even just a little bit off of their plate.
Thank you so much for following along this year, y’all! I know 2016 will be even better and I can’t wait to share my year with you!
As you’re entering the new year, don’t have the “YOLO” mentality.

Happy New Year, guys! Now get to writing down those goals and start taking action!
