I cannot believe 2016 is just days away! I can’t wait to share my favorites with you from this month and hope you discover something that strikes your fancy! Here we go!
My friend, Paul Sohn is releasing his book, Quarter-Life Calling: How to Find Your Sweet Spot in Your Twenties in 21 days! I’m SO happy and excited for this awesome milestone in his life and am honored and stoked to be part of his book launch team! I’m getting a head start on my 2016 personal development by starting off with his book and will be reading Do Over by Jon Acuff, The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes, It’s Only Pain: But It’s Real and It Hurts by Taylor Morton, The Entrepreneur Rollercoaster by Darren Hardy and Royalty Income: The Business of Getting Paid More than Once by Dr. Steve Hryszczuk over the next couple of months.
Book reviews will be coming very soon and since I’m a fan of these authors already, I’m pretty sure they’ll be glowing reviews! I highly recommend Do Over and School of Greatness if you’re taking a new direction in your career/life or looking to jumpstart on your goals!
I’m currently on the last half of 2 Chronicles of my 90 day Bible plan (for those who are new to my blog, I use the YouVersion Bible app) and yep, I’m still behind. My friends and I finished our six week study two weeks ago so we’ve been taking a break and just practicing our gifts for God before we get back into our small group. We’ll most likely be doing this Bible study when we start up again since we liked their other study so much.
I’ve been officially official at my new church for about a month now too so I can’t wait to get back to volunteering in the church and meeting new people!
Health & Wellness:
I’ve been slowly adding to my fitness wardrobe these last couple of months and began by nabbing an amazing pair of leggings from Heroine Sport on Black Friday (y’all should seriously check them out) and pinning pieces that I need (to replace). My brother also got me some crops and a jacket from Lululemon for Christmas (thanks, Bubba!) so I’m definitely well on my way on building my awesome fitness closet!
Next up on my list is this amazing Nike Free pair in black and in white to replace my two worn out pairs. I don’t like chunky or clunky footwear unless it’s boots, so this style has been my go-to since they’re super light and you feel like you’re flying when you’re running or playing tennis. A pair of yoga pants and leggings from Victoria’s Secret is next on my list as well and I’ll be set for the upcoming Winter months straight into Spring! Again, I’m building slow and steady because I want good and high quality clothes as I rotate them between workouts and washes.
Oh and for us North Texans and anyone who lives anywhere that’s cold right now, this chili is perfect for cold weather. Trust me on this recipe. Just ditch the cheese and sour cream to lower the calories even more so. Oh and you’re welcome in advance.
I’m so excited that the new year around the corner that I’ve already ordered my 2016 Powersheets! I used them last year and they were so detailed and great. Lara has really put a lot of work and thought into them which is why I’m a returning client. She’s taught me that it’s okay to be messy and imperfect because what is life without a little mess, right? I should’ve ordered the sheets sooner (bummed I missed out on their bound workbook version), but hey, better a tad late than never right? I can’t wait to sit down and write out my goals and order my Daily Greatness Journal soon too!
I’ve also been looking at a ton of interior decor inspiration for my new place. Yep, I’m moving again, but this time, after two years of living in a home thanks to a generous family friend where I’ve been able to pay my debts off so quickly, it’s time to venture back out. I’m headed back to an area in North Texas that I’ve missed and truly love. I’ll be sure to take before and after photos so you can see the progress as I slowly start decorating my new home.
I just bought this whole set of ah-mazing food containers and this set of food containers to use at my new apartment. I’ve used a few containers of their’s for over 5 years and they have held up very well. No white rings of soap from the dishwasher and no food stains so it’s definitely a must if you cook a lot or just food prep. I also took advantage of a coupon and got this wooden utensil set and this wooden utensil set because of great reviews I’ve read about the product and brand itself. Since I’m a huge fan of cooking at home/hosting parties versus eating out, they’ll be put to great use!
Style & Beauty:
I loved my tote I got this past Fall so much that I bought two more reversible totes (which are on MAJOR sale) earlier this month. I got a dark/light grey for Winter and a pink/neutral for the Spring. I don’t think I’ve loved a tote this much! Coming from a girl who can truly test the durability of bags, trust me, this tote is a winner if you carry your life around with you! I also got this classic buttondown (also on major sale). I love a classic with a twist! This classic coin pendant I’ve had my eye on for over a year is now a part of my jewelry collection. I also recently purchased this contour kit to replace my Anastasia Beverly Hills palette which I haven’t played with yet. Review to come soon for sure!
Do you have any plans for New Year’s Eve? I’m just going to stay in with my closest friends, eat and play video/board games and just enjoy their company and live in the moment.
I haven’t been able to go out and take some outfit pictures for months due to my work schedule and on top of that, it’s been rainy, cold and cloudy these last couple of days, so I’ll have to improvise and get creative with my fashion posts. Speaking of cold and rainy, if you believe, please be in prayer for those in the Garland and Rowlett area in North Texas. Several tornadoes touched down this weekend, homes were destroyed and so far, 11 lives have been lost that I know of (including a newborn who was just two days old). I can’t imagine going through such devastation just days after Christmas. I’ll put a few donation links up on my next blog post this week.
Have a blessed week!
