First of all, let me clear up some things. Yes, I’m a woman. Yes, I’m Asian. Yes, I love traffic. No, I’m not your stereotypical Asian driver. Why? 1) I can see over my steering wheel. 2) Sometimes I have a lead foot. 3) I have never received a ticket for going too slow or too fast (::knocks on wood desk::). What did this crazy Asian girl just title her blog post?! She LOVES traffic?! I know what you’re thinking, “You’ve got to be kidding me, right? This girl is nuts!” Um, no. I’m not. If you know me at all, you know that I always find the silver lining in everything…including traffic. Here are three reasons why I love traffic:
- Traffic gives me a chance to learn. Whether it’s appreciating the life I’ve been given, learning music lyrics to a new song, learning how to be patient, taking in some personal development or having a conversation with my traveling companion(s), I’m always learning something when I’m in traffic.
- Traffic is God’s way to keep me from being where I’m not supposed to be. Hey, at least that’s how I see it. Have you ever thought that God didn’t want you somewhere at a specific time because He didn’t want you to be in an accident ahead or a bad situation that could alter your life? A new way to think about it, friends!
- Traffic gives me a chance to get close to God. If I’m by myself, I always start having a conversation with my Savior. I talk to Him about what’s on my mind, how I feel, thank Him for the beautiful skies among my many other blessings and tell Him my needs. Rush hour is always an awesome time for me to pray and strengthen my relationship with God.
Many people thought I was crazy when I moved back to the suburbs and away from the city because my commute would now involve driving instead of walking right across the street. Living within walking distance of work is great, but I actually looked forward to moving because I missed driving. I missed my daily morning talks with the Lord. If loving traffic makes me crazy, then crazy I am for taking every opportunity I can to have a relationship with my Savior!
Happy Tuesday loves and don’t forget to smile because you’ll never know when someone will need it!
